Disneylany: Jocelyn Dances at Disney!!!

 For many years the Winslow Stars has been performing at Disneyland, and California Adventure. One day they performed at Disneyland and then another day the did California Adventure. This girl sure loves to dance!!

Jocelyn Turns 7

Jocelyn turned 7 last September. She's grown so much, and such a joy in our home. She is always will to help out in any way that she can. We sure love our baby girl.

She got a bike for her birthday.

And then had a fun party with her friends. They played red rover, duck, duck, goose, and then took over my kitchen and made a huge mess decorating cupcakes.

Girls Night

When the boys went to the Father's and Sons camp out the girls wanted to do something fun. So we decided to do a spa/craft night. So we invited Crystal and her girls, and Susie and her girls and she also brought her nieces.
First we had to let everyone know that the spa was open for business.

We started off with the craft. I sewed some "sleep masks" with some felt, quilt batting, and ribbon. The girls then decorated them with puffy paint, buttons, and jewels. I also made them each a name tag, and place mat. The place mat was so they wouldn't get nail polish or crafty stuff on my table.

After the craft came the girly stuff. Nail painting and make up. I wish I would have gotten the face mask stuff made, but I just didn't have time.

I think they all had a good time, and put on way too much make up. They are already talking about what they want to do next year.

Take Me Out To The Ball Game...................

For the past 2 months we have lived at the ball park. By lived, I mean we would eat, sleep, and play baseball!! If we weren't at games we were taking the kids to practice. Tale-gating was one of our favorites. Nothing like a good ol' hot dog while watching your kids play ball. (or pizza, subs, and junk food)

Kennedy moved up to the Majors this year, and was really nervous about it. After about 3 practices we were about to pull her out. We decided to make her play because she had made the commitment to her team when she signed up, and boy are we glad she stuck it out this year. She did AWESOME!!!!!! Her team called her Pee Wee Power. Don't let her size fool you. One game the other teams coach told his team to move up, and she sure showed them by hitting a fly ball into right field, and got a double!!
Kennedy made the 10 year old All Stars Team. This is a great accomplishment!!!! Only 10 girls were chosen to plan on this team. All the coaches get together to vote and chose the players. We couldn't be more proud!!!! When they announced the teams, I think I was more nervous than she was.
She can't wait to play other teams in the state starting the first week of July.

This was Kadens last year in the Minors. He had a really good time, and not only did he improve a lot but his team grew leaps and bounds!!!! He was the biggest and oldest on his team. I believe that his team had the smallest kids on it in the league. They only won about 6 games out of the 20 they played but by the end of the season every boy on his team hit every time they came up to bat.
Kaden hit 3 home runs this year, and a few triples, and several doubles.

Jocelyn did her second year of t-ball this year. I love the fact that all the kids look like little bobble head with the big helmets on. Poor Jocelyn has to hold on to it every time she runs to keep it on her head. I love to watch the kids fight over the ball when it's hit, and I love to watch the kids run to 3rd base instead of 1st. I think that t-ball is one of my favorites to watch.

Jocelyn's Felt Playhouse

I sewed Jocelyn a felt playhouse for Christmas, and boy was it a hit!!! I made this for probably about $30 total, but with all the time and effort I put into it I think it was worth well over $200. I sewed morning, noon, and night for over 2 weeks. But it was definitely worth it!! She loved it, and so do the rest of the kids. Now on to the tour....

Welcome to Jocleyn's house....one of my favorite things is the apple tree. I love how it turned out!! I'm going to probably make some lemons and even some oranges for it. The apples are all removable with velcro on them.

The mail box, complete with a working door.....

The cute flowers, that she can remove. I twisted some pipe cleaners together and then twisted the ends up so they wouldn't poke through the felt to make the stems bendable. If I were to do this again I would probably use double the amount of pipe cleaners or maybe a heavy craft wire to make them a little stiffer.

Here's a sampling of the fruits and veggies I made. Squash, pumpkins, apples, lettuce, carrots, potatoes and corn. Don't ya just love the basket weaving I did to make the corn. I found this idea on another blog.....

The garden side... I used quilt batting to make the sun puffier, and wished I would have done the same to the clouds. Everything is "pick able" and is used to "stock" the farmers market.....

The farmers market......I should have made the window smaller, the kids tend to use it as a entrance and exit. The open/closed sign can be reversed when playing. Jocelyn asked me where the money was. I guess I need to make here some felt money too.....

Post office........

Letters complete with removable stamps that I made......The letters are made to Grandmas, and Grandpas, and Aunt Crystal.

Things I discovered while making this.......

*I love, love, love printer fabric!!!! It made making the letters, signs, and stamps sooo easy!!!

*I actually love to sew. Ya, I may have said a few choice words with sewing this project, but it felt so rewarding that I made it.

*Felt is fun!!! While making this I found so many other fun projects I want to make for the kids. Next on my list a quiet book for Benny boy.

From the Mouth of a Kindergartner........

Jocelyn started Kindergarten this year, and I love to hear what she had to say everyday when she gets home from school. I think I laugh all the way home everyday!!! Here are some things she has said.......

"Mom, Dillon is a evil, evil, little man"

"Why honey?"

"Because he kicks the teacher."

During the second week of school Jocelyn was pushed on the playground, and hit her head really bad. When I went to check on her at school she started to throw up several times, so we rushed her to the ER. They did a cat-scan, and x-rays to make

sure she was OK. While sitting with her she told me,

"Mom, I sure hope there is nothing wrong with my brain, cause that would be bad"

Then when all her scans came back fine she let out a big sigh of relief, and told me and the Dr.

"Oh, I'm so happy my brain is OK"

Later that night she then told me

"Mom, my outfit was wasted."

When I asked her why, she then said

"Because, my friends at school didn't see it, and neither did my

teacher. You got me all dressed and pretty for nothing."

She's such a girlie girl for sure!!!!! If she could she's wear a dress everyday!!

She was so excited to do the Bulldog cheer camp this year, and LOVED it!! It was so much fun to take all the kids to the football game.(until Benson puked all over the bleachers, but that's a different story)

Jocelyn turned 6 last month, and this is the only picture I got of her on her birthday. She loved that she got a Cinderella cake, and was able to go swimming at the Aqua-plex with her cousins.

The 5th Grader, 4th Grader, Kindergartner, Preschooler and Benny Boy

Well our summer fun ended on August 9th this year, when we sent the kids off to school. Time flies when your having fun, and boy did we have a good time this summer. Swimming, sno-cones, and lots of friends!!!!

The kids were really excited to get back to school. Kennedy is getting to the age where school really isn't as fun. More work and less play, so she wasn't as excited as the rest of the kids. Jocelyn on the other hand couldn't wait!!!! I think that she had enough excitement for everyone. Here's the kids on their first day of school 2010.

T-Ball, Baseball, and Softball. Oh My.............

Spring has came and that means it's Little League season. As I signed up Kennedy, Kaden, and Jocelyn, I knew I would be busy this spring, but that has been a understatement!!! We've had games almost every night for the past 5 weeks. It makes for fast meals, cranky kids, and late nights. But I wouldn't trade the memories of Jocelyn's first run into home plate, Kaden hitting his first triple, and Kennedy hitting 2 home runs. And the fun times my children have had!!! It's so much fun watching them improve, and the joy on their faces they get from a simple game. I've been really bad at taking my camera to the games, and with only a few left I really hope I remember it so I can get some pictures of them in action.

Jocelyn is on the GIANTS this year. It's a little ironic, don't ya think. She is the smallest on her team, and it's fun to listen to the people in the stands as she hits the ball. There is always someone talking about how cute she is, and how well she hits the ball for her size. Just the other day she told me that I should have gotten her a size small uniform. When I told her it was a small, she then told me, "Oh, well it's a big small one" Don't worry sweetie, when I signed you up for soccer I asked if they had extra smalls, and they said yes!!! So maybe your shirt will fit you in soccer this year. :)

Cole had to get in on the picture taking action too.

Kaden is on the GIANTS this year. He has really improved since last year. He plays catcher, and outfield. He can really hit the ball too. He has hit several doubles, and a few triples. His coach always has something good to say about him whether it be about his playing, or about how he's such a team player and nice to everyone. He's very easy going, and doesn't worry if he makes a mistake.

Kennedy is on the HUSKIES. Cris has had the opportunity to be her coach, and they are both really enjoying it. She's done great this year!! She's hit 2 home runs in the past week, and can't stop talking about it. Cris told her he'd give her $1 a home run, and she won't let him forget about it. She plays pretty much any position Cris puts her. Her favorite is 2nd base. She hits the ball good and hard.(she takes after her mom) I can't believe that she is going to move up to majors next year!!
