The 5th Grader, 4th Grader, Kindergartner, Preschooler and Benny Boy

Well our summer fun ended on August 9th this year, when we sent the kids off to school. Time flies when your having fun, and boy did we have a good time this summer. Swimming, sno-cones, and lots of friends!!!!

The kids were really excited to get back to school. Kennedy is getting to the age where school really isn't as fun. More work and less play, so she wasn't as excited as the rest of the kids. Jocelyn on the other hand couldn't wait!!!! I think that she had enough excitement for everyone. Here's the kids on their first day of school 2010.

Grandpa Moss

James Arlo Moss, 70, of Moreland passed away Tuesday,

August 3, 2010 near the Blackfoot Reservoir.

He was born September 15, 1939 in Idaho Falls,

Idaho the son of Arlo James and Ellen Marie Hunter Moss.

Jim was raised in Ririe graduating from Ririe High School. He

then attended Ricks College prior to serving in the Central Atlantic

States Mission. After returning from his mission he continued his

education at Ricks College where he received an Associate Degree. He

attended ISU for a short time and then transferred to BYU in Provo, Utah where he completed a Bachelor’s Degree.

On August 1, 1963, he married Sharen Holley in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They had just celebrated their 47th anniversary.

After receiving his education at BYU, he moved to Ririe where he taught school and

coached wrestling at Ririe High School for 6 years. His family then moved to Brawley,

California where he taught school for two years. He then worked as a dental lab tech for 8 years

in Brawley. He moved back to Idaho and worked for 6 years in the Upper Snake River Valley.

During that time he went back to school to update his teaching credentials and in 1985 he

returned once again to the Brawley area where he taught school for another 6 years. He moved to

Moreland in 1991 and taught math at Snake River Junior High until he retired in 2005.

Jim was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a

stake missionary, Elder’s Quorum President, Branch President, athletic director and home teacher.

Hunting and fishing were his passion and he had fished from Alaska to Mexico and

everywhere in between. He also enjoyed traveling to visit his children and grandchildren through

out the country, playing card games, telling jokes and socializing with people from every walk of life.

He is survived by his wife, Sharen of Moreland; sons, Shane (Darlene) of Minneapolis,

MN, Mike(Dana) of Newark, TX, Gary (Alaine) of Honolulu, HI, Nathan of Pascoe, WA,

Jimmie (Natalie) of Boise, ID, Cris (LeAnn) of Winslow, AZ; daughters, Diane (Joey) Acosta of

Holtville, CA, Holly (Todd) Patterson of Brigham City, UT, Julie (Mike) Eilander of Haslet, TX,

Crystal (Lance) Murdock of Winslow, Az; brother, Dick (Eldene) Moss of Tremonton, UT;

sisters, Janet (Steve) Hurzeler of Idaho Falls, ID, Patty (Norman) Landon of Ririe, ID; 30 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Joann Wilding and a granddaughter Jordanne.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the Moreland LDS Chapel with Bishop Mark Adams, conducting.

The family will meet with friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Interment will be in the Ririe Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Services are under the direction of the Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave., in

Jim was one awesome, Dad, Father-in-law, and Grandfather!!! We will miss him dearly. I thought that it would be neat to have each of the kids to tell me their favorite memory of their Grandpa Moss.

Fishing with Grandpa and eating all his peanuts, and m&m's out of his trail mix, leaving just the raisins for him.(we heard about this for weeks!!)

My favorite memory is when Jim, and Cris taught me how to fly fish when Cris and I were dating. They explained how to just touch the water with the fly, and with a flick of the wrist take it back out. Needless to say I caught many trees that day. But the funniest part was when I actually caught a fish. I was so excited that I "flicked" my wrist a bit too hard and sent it soaring through the air behind me. I don't think I'd ever seen him laugh so hard. And for the rest of the day all I heard was Cris and him laughing and teasing me about my "flying" fish.

We will miss all the jokes he told, (Cris definitely gets his sense of humor from his dad) and the catch phrases he had. He taught all the grand kids how to say "Oh, nuts" at a young age, and we would all sing "give me something good" while playing cards. He was there when Kennedy and Kaden caught their first fish, and he was the first one Jocelyn wanted to call when she caught hers.

I'm so thankful for Jim for raising the wonderful man I married. For teaching him the gospel, and for being a great example to him.

He will definitely be missed, and leaves a great legacy behind!!!

We love you Grandpa Moss, and are so grateful for eternal families, so that we may be together again some day.
