It's Over

Yes, ladies a gentlemen, it's over. I finished Breaking Dawn yesterday. I'm sad it's over. I really enjoyed reading it. (and my family did survive and weren't to neglected.) So what's every ones thoughts on it? Leave me a comment. And for those of you who haven't finished or read it yet, don't' read the comments it may spoil it. I'll be giving my two cents too.

I am curious to hear what people think. I haven't read any of the books, but I have a friend who said this one was TERRIBLE.

Ahhh....who knows?

Okay so I loved the book. I was surprised most of all that she got pregnant and that Jacob imprinted on the baby. I was really hoping that he would imprint on another girl so that would give Bella and Edward their space. I know that Bella and Jacob were close, but if I was Edward I wouldn't want him to always be so close. I guess what I am trying to say is that if he imprinted on another girl they could have still been friends. It just kind of seems like she is getting her cake and eating it too. Like she is getting to keep them both and still be in love with both. In real life it doesn't work that way. And I am also confused when the baby gets older can she be with/marry a werewolf/shape shifter? or does it not matter since she is half human? Okay I could go on but this is like the longest comment ever. What did you think?

Hi LeAnn. I really did like the book but was also very suprised at the way it turned out and the pregnancy and all. Like Michelle, I probably would have liked Jacob to imprint on another nice girl and just be happy and be able to I guess keep in touch with Bella and Edward from afar but still be happy in his own life. Stephenie Meyer's has an incredible imagination. I love a good LDS romance but sometimes I wondered if she was going over the edge and if it was a little risque. (However you spell it.) We have several people in our ward that started them but won't finish them because there's a little too much risky business and won't let their teenagers read them. I guess although I did love them and will read them again and again over time, I am a little suprised that Deseret Book carries them. I do have to say that when your old like me it's nice to escape and feel a little romance in the air. I still think she could write another sequel to it. I will look forward to the movid. What did you think?

So here's my two cents,
I was shocked at all that happened while reading it but now that I look back at it, it seemed pretty predictable. I was most surprised that she got pregnant, but not to surprised when Jacob imprinted on the baby. I was disipionted that he did, I too wanted Bella and Edward to have their space. I was rooting for Edward the whole time, and just wanted Jacob to go away. Don't get me wrong I loved his charater but if I were in that situation, I don't think I'd like it. Like Michelle said she's getting cake and eating it too.

I also wonder about the whole thing with the Renessme and Jacob, can they marry, have kids, etc. It just seems alittle difficult.

I did enjoy the romance of the books but this one was alot more risque. I'm not sure if I would let my teenage daughter read it. I was really shocked when I was reading the first half if the book. Ya, it didn't go into detail but it left alot up to your imagination.

I also think she could write another. I would really like to see what happens with Renemsse and Jacob. I think it would be a neat story line.

I could really go on and on but I will stop there. I can't wait till 12-12-08 for the movie!!!!

I was really surprised that Bella was able to get pregnant. I figured that Edward was suspended in time as a vampire and as such nothing would change. I read a post by Stephenie that said vampires couldn't change meaning that they can't grow hair and such and so if they have a haircut there hair stays cut; they can't grow it back; however, after reading for awhile, I was willing to put aside my prejudices and allow the possiblity. I liked the characters enough that I wanted them to have every chance including having a family and also being all powerful vampires.
I suspected that Jacob would imprint the way he did because the way Stephenie wrote her characters, I had a feeling that she would want them all the stay together. I liked Jacob and how he was the opposite of Edward in so many ways--not in control, a little rebelous, do and and let come what may attitude--and Bella had always wished that he had been her brother. At times I wished she would let him go so that he could maybe find some happiness, but the way I pictured him--he would never have been happy without her and she without him. His imprinting on her baby was a way to tie up that ending so that he was still able to have a part of Bella and she wouldn't loose him altogether. (If Jacob hadn't had his part in the story tied up and still retained his link to Bella--I think the story would never have ended. It would have remained a loose thread with another story waiting to be told and it wouldn't have remained faithful to the relationship that had been built up between Bella and Jacob. Their friendship went far beyond a regular best pals sort of bond). After the imprinting I felt there was a clear seperation between the two. I didn't feel like there was an intrusion in the Edward/Bella relationship--rather it allowed Edward and Jacob to become friends--the two people that she most loved in the world. Thecommunication between Bella and Jacob was different and I could tell that Jacob had changed and there was no desire for Bella anymore. Bella wasn't even a second choice because there only ever would be Renesemee. Renesemee being imortal and Jacob being able to stay imortal and young as long as he turned into a wolf every now and then worked too. They both were supper strong, still mortal in a sense--if Renesemee could grow up--even at hyper speed--surely she would be able to have children and I could kind of see them being more similar than different what with the way he communicated with his pack and she being able to communicate the way she did by touch and the way they are both described as having higher body temperatures.
Another thing I liked was the way Bella still retained some identifiable characteristics as a vampire. She was still the same loving, responsible, curious, giving girl. And it was cool to see how she transformed from a puny weakling into one of the most powerful characters in the book. I loved that she was a shield able to withstand the powers of the more potent vampires and also able to control her newborn instincts. Her being a shield to protect her loved ones fit so well with her character.
Anyway, I loved this series!! These characters are some of the best written ones I have ever read. Fun to chat with you. I think I read that she was interested in writting more on some of the other characters. I would like to see more on Renesmenee too and maybe on the half mortal vampire guy. That would be a cool story.

So I really liked the book, the ending was kind of anti-climactic for me. I think I would rather they go ahead and have a fight with the Volturri! I wasn't really surprised with the pregnancy I was kind of expecting it. I agree this one is a little too "grown up" for the teenage girls to be reading. Pretty racey stuff! :)

Okay, I loved the first part, but will definitely not let my daughters read these books until they are really old! I did NOT see the whole pregnancy thing coming, but then the imprinting just made sense. It was a little weird at first, but then it really seemed to fit everything together well. I'll admit, I got a little tiny bit disinterested in the middle-- it just wasn't as exciting for me once she was actually a vampire. But, I think it all ended well.
